Wood edged ahead of white cabinetry in the 2026 U.S. Houzz Kitchen Trends Study: 29% of renovating homeowners chose wood, compared with 28% choosing white. The same research highlights storage improvements. These results describe renovation choices among the surveyed homeowners; they do not mean every kitchen needs replacement cabinets.

Keep the useful foundation
Our approach is to check the existing cabinet boxes, hinges and drawer operation first. If the layout works, a repair and careful hardware update can be a more manageable project than a complete replacement. Match new pulls to existing hole spacing before ordering.
Give everyday items a place
Empty one problem drawer and group what you actually use there. Measure the inside, including clearance for the drawer to close, before choosing organizers. Keep frequently used items within an easy reach and avoid filling every gap.
Test the finish combination
Place a wood sample beside the countertop and flooring in your own light. Look at all three together, not as separate purchases. Keep a sample photo and measurements in your project notes so future decisions remain consistent.
